A friend of mines husband got laid off 7 months ago. Yet, he remains on call for them 24/7, as they do call him in when needed. It is a very good job (with the railroad). It makes it hard for him to get another job, as if they call, he has to go right then. (usually someone went home sick, or took a vacation day...).
She has had a hard time finding work, but has worked when and where she can. Right now their income is 0 and their emergency fund is gone. Luckly, their home is paid off.
I told my church of their need by email on Monday night, and we have a suburban and a van filled with food to take to them tonight. I am sure more food will come in on Sunday when people come to church.
In the midst of all of this, her grandma died last night.
I am so proud of my small church (less than 125) of stepping up to help. But, that is how they always are!!
