Isn't his class like $400? I wouldn't bother. You can get his books out of the library and listen to his podcast and do it yourself. He's kind of a one trick pony but I think he's good at getting people out of debt, once you're out of debt I would not listen to any of his next steps, i.e.: how to invest.

I dislike the Christianity thread and the mocking of left wing people, but it's his show and he can say what he likes. I still listen to him sometimes because I like to hear people who had nothing but mounds of debt and managed to pay it off in relatively short periods of time and you know they will never get themselves in that situation again. And I think they wouldn't have gotten out of their mess as easily had they not found Dave Ramsey.

I think our seminar at our church had a fee, but if you didn't have the money, and most in a bad situation don't, the church helped cover the fee I believe, but that was a long while ago. But you can read all his books via the library and the library exchange program. You can see what is available for free on line. So, whether the program costs $400 - $0 - Or $5K you can get the benefit of it. Most likely you can find forums that focus on going along the pathway he recommends or even here, enough are familiar enough with the program to encourage you. Having someone that is encouraging you instead of someone making fun of you saying, 'everyone is in debt and always will be', you will do better with people walking the same path as you.

I am going to one of the classes for sure. And it was not anywhere close to $100 or more. Also I think I am going to sell lots of stuff I have. I'm going to cut my cell phone down only by $13 but then I would have an extra smartphone to sell. Going to use e-bay and craigslist.

His class is free. The materials are about $100. They really don't go out of style and if you need a refresher, you can use the same materials again and again. My husband and I taught his class in January. I highly recommend it.

I also think it is good to charge for classes because if people have an investment, they are more likely to follow through.

Years ago, my wife and I took a financial seminar and the tuition was "$50 or more". The point was that they encouraged you to pay an amount that was significant to you. For some, the $50 was a stretch to afford, but for others, that was pocket change. This class was taken by everyone from college students to leaders of industry with 7-figure incomes. So most probably paid $50 but some paid more and a few paid a lot more.

              * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
              * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
              * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

My husband used to sing in a semi-professional type group. He said when they gave a free performance they barely had anyone come. But charge $10-15 the place would be packed. It is if you have to pay for something it is worth more to you. If it is free, how good can it be?
