It sounds like you did what you needed to do to keep a roof over your head. At least you have a plan to get the card paid off.
This situation makes a strong argument to have an emergency fund in place. If you had, then you wouldn't have needed to use a credit card to get by until a new job came along.
If it were me, I would have had an emergency fund to draw from until I found employment. I also would have taken the first job that I could find even if it were low paying. A bad job is better than no job at all. I would have gotten two crappy jobs if I had to. While working and making money any way that I could I would have searched for a better job.

If you were in this situation and had a credit card with a $3000 limit what would you
have done?
I was fired from my job in Sept of 2016 and was not eligible for unemployment. A month before that I was approved for a Discover Card and had no choice but to use it because there was no money coming in at all.
I was able to pay the October rent with my last check but I had to use my card to pay November and December rent. Luckily I found a similar job mid December and now I plan to have the card paid off by July 1st
I had no other options and I didn't want to apply for a crap job and take away my opportunity to find a full time job with benefits. So I was so happy I was able to find a job making the same money with health insurance .
I did sell a few things to pay some small bills but it wasn't enough for my $800 rent.
Would anyone else have done the same?Tags: None
