Good job terces. It feels good to drive a car you actually own, doesn't it? Now you're never ever ever going to borrow money again are you?

Make sure you save up an emergency fund of 3-6 months of your living expenses. That will help ensure that you never have to borrow money for unexpected expenses. Focus on building this emergency fund (if you don't have it already) before you build up a car fund.

Keep it up though. You're an inspiration. Thanks for sharing!

Its been almost a year since my original post of paying off my car. What a great year its been! And I am very proud of my family to have been able to live without that money and directly send it to savings. Its a good feeling to see it grow. Thanks to this forum for the inspiration.

Now if we could just sell the motorcycle (our stupid tax) I'll be doing the happy dance.

A very big congratulations. I'm very jealous of you. I wish I was even close to your situation. Maybe someday in the future I can say the same thing.

Congratulations! I have not had a car payment in 11 years and I don't know if I want one again.

It is a great feeling, I made my last car payment eleven (11) years ago. My cars are old (16 & 14) and probably should be replaced, but I hate payments so I'll wait. The cars afine and they could last for another 15 years.
