  • Medical Bills Affecting Credit

Do or can medical bills effect your Credit score? I thought I heard somewhere, that the credit bureaus do/are not allowed to use medical bills towards someones personal credit. I have no sound facts supporting that I was just wondering, and I couldn't find anything proving/disproving it.

If you don't pay them, they certainly do. I had a bill that somehow went unpaid for a long time and it wound up on my credit report. I had to submit letters, etc. to get them to remove it.

yea I had a bill from 2.5 years ago and they never contacted to me. I called them up today and they said they had tried to contact me, but they had my old address when I lived in another state AND they had my phone number w/ the wrong area code. Because they already had another account from me that was paid immediately, so I talked to them on the phone and they removed their credit account they reported to the bureau.

Now because that was the only thing on my credit report that was bad, and they removed it, should it technically go back up to what it was before? It was only a 150 dollar bill and it dropped my score from a 730 down to a 659. This should bring it back up right? Or is there something else I must do?
