I have been having alot of problems with this recipe I have been using to make chewy granola bars but everytime I make them they are not chewy they are crumbly
I want to be able to make the ones like they have in the store. I just can't afford wheat germ. Here is the recipe I am using is there anyway to tweek it to get it chewy? I have already tried adding another egg and adding extra baking powder.
1/2 cup Margarine, softened
1 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 T Honey
1/2 t vanilla exract
1 egg
1 t ground cinnamon
1/2 t salt
1 1/2 cup Oats
1 1/4 crisp rice cereal
1 cup raisins or semi-sweet chips(i only use milk chocolate don't like semi-sweets) (I also put in some peanut butter chips)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl cream margarine and sugars. Add Honey, vanilla, and egg, mix well. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats and cereal. Add raisins or chocolate chips. Press into a greased 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake 25 to 30 Mins or until top is lightly browned.
