  • Needing simple recipes for a beginning cook

I am getting my 11 year old a recipe box, and trying to get some recipes in it before Christmas. She has gotten the cooking bug BAD. She loves to cook.
I am looking for some kid friendly, not too complicated recipes. She does use the stove and microwave.

    anything "cassarole" is easy...

layer bread... vegetable...cheese... meat.. etc. cassaroles are easy and were the first things i learned how to cook.

Green bean cassarole is awesome too - really easy... just a can of string beans, can of mushroom soup, top with french's fried onions and bake for about 20-25 minutes on 400. yummy!!

Baked speghettie is easy too -- in a cassarole dish, layer however many pieces of toast you can fit (barely toasted), dice some tomatoes... then layer cooked noodles... then cheese.. then sauce...then cooked noodles...then sauce..then top with cheese and crumbled bread. bake for 25 mins on 400. you dont even need meat!

you can also visit recipezaar.com and do category searches for "one dish" meals, "kid friendly", "easy", etc. it even lets you save your favorites to a "cookbook" and print them out.
