While reading the old smiling hill farm book we came across maple cakes.
If you have read a lot of pioneer books you know 'cake' doesn't mean a birthday concoction, but more of a pancake, only thicker and substantial.
So how on earth am I going to find a recipe for that?
I had to find one for 'corn pone' earlier, I subbed a coarse version of corn bread, but for this I am at a loss, I want something maple-y but not to unhealthy, and made with whole wheat flour.
Any suggestions?
