I make a 2 gallon zip lock bag each week. I also sometimes use sunflower seeds or other nuts. Odd left overs of cereal go into it also.

During the summer I dry our excess fruit from the orchard and toss it in as well--peaches, strawberries, apples.....

That does sound good! I usually do almonds, dried cranberries, and either M&Ms or chocolate chips for an extra bit of sweet, but I think I'll try yours. Thanks!

                  2 minute trail mix

Sounds good! I am sharing a recipe named:

Pumpkin Seed Dried Cherry Trail Mix

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

In a large bowl, toss the pumpkin seeds, almonds, and sunflower seeds and the syrup until evenly coated. Spread the nuts and seeds out, in an even single layer, on the lined baking sheets and season with salt to taste. Bake the nuts, stirring several times with spatula or wooden spoon, until just golden, about 20 minutes.

Cool the nuts completely on the pan, then add the cherries and toss to combine. Store cooled trail mix in an airtight container at room temperature.

Here's the recipe I used last night. In the time you can grab something off the shelf and throw it in a bowl, you can have a large batch of trail mix made exactly to your liking!

From the cereal cupboard: two handfuls of Cheerios

From the snack cupboard: two handfuls of stick pretzels, crushed a little to break up the pieces
a shake of dry roasted peanuts from the container
                    a shake of sunflower seeds
                    a handful of dried cranberries

From the baking cupboard: a handful each of chocolate and butterscotch chips

Toss in a Tupperware bowl, put the lid on, and shake. We ate all of this up last night, so I made a new batch this morning. My kids absolutely love it. Some other things I have used:
-any type of cereal, from Rice Chex to Kashi Mighty Bites (anything that languishes in the cupboard too long and that my kids stopped eating!)
-baking chips (white chocolate, peanut butter, etc.)
                    -nuts, any kind
                    -Goldfish crackers
                    -any dried fruit
                    -M&Ms, other small candies
                    Have fun with it!
Wow! great treat for a week's worth of work. Thank you!

My kids love this to snack on when we're out and about. After Christmas I usually add a few leftover crushed candy canes.
