  • Pennsylvania Grocery Outlet Stores

    For all my PA friends...
Hope you get some good deals here! I'd go and check them
out if I lived there and will visit them when we visit family in the PA area (if we ever get back that way again!).

I find that all places like this you HAVE TO know your prices! These are the types of stores that make having a price book so useful. Also, you will want to be watching the expiry dates. Scroll down on the sharpshopper page and click on their food dating pdf file as it's pretty informative.

I think that is a smart way for them to promote themselves ---as an outlet store for groceries. Sounds a lot more appealing than a food salvage store or a bent & dent store. The photo looks clean and well lit, too. Some such stores I have been in were not.

We have a "grocery outlet" chain out here. It is great. It is like a normal grocery store. It is a little more "industrial" because they don't have real shelving and things are put out in their boxes. They have a shelf, but is is just a long flat shelf the whole aisle long. The shelving like that also allows them to accommodate the different items they have to put out.

On their sign, they say that they have funky brands because they buy overages and the rest of "test" product runs and such. They also buy mislabeled things. I have found off-brand (like store brand) coolwhip with one brand name on the bowl part and a different brand name on the lid.

They also buy things that didn't pass the quality control checks. They have frozen "cream" pies (peanut butter, chocolate, etc) that the whip cream on top isn't totally pretty or it is missing a dollop or two here or there. They taste fine, but they just aren't as pretty. I don't care if my pies aren't totally pretty.

You definately have to watch the prices though. Sometimes, the prices are higher than what you can find on sale.

          another discount store

If your ever in Morgantown, Pa, theres a store called BB's grocery outlet, its in the outlet mall right off of 23, near the Mcdonald's. For the life of me, i cannot remember the road. They have a lot of cheap items as well as the dent discount.

            BB's grocery outlet

In Morgantown, Pa in the outlet stores, is where this place is. Right off of Rt.23, near the Mcdonalds. Great place if your ever in that area. Lots of good deals, and scratch and dent.
