  • How do I save money on organic foods?

Does anyone have good tips on saving money on organic foods? I would like to buy more of them, but they are so much more expensive than the regular produce at the store and it is killing my budget.

I completly understand! I have no clue, boy I am not a lot of help am I! THough I bet growing your own would be cheaper, I have a brown thumb so I can't. Brown thumb being things look good and right when you get your hopes up that this time they wont die, they do.

Your really need to shop around like you would anything else. The organic section of your local grocery store is probably one of the most expensive places to buy organic food.

You can also find it at health food stores, specialty stores, co-ops, gourmet delis, farmers' markets, community-supported agriculture programs, etc. I buy mine at a local farmer's market and the prices are comparable to regular grocery store produce. It took me a long time to discover the farmer's market though.

I agree about shopping around to compare prices. Also, if you can't buy all organic produce, then aim to buy those that would otherwise be the most unhealthy in terms of chemicals used in the growing process. I think green bell peppers are high on that list. Dr. Andrew Weil has a list in one of his books about that topic.
