I'm moving to northern Michigan soon, and the town only has a Walmart Superstore, aside from the local food chains. Do any of you shop for groceries at Walmart? We some things from there, but we don't have the option of food items here. What do you guys think of the prices?

Re: Walmart Superstore?
I've only shop for groceries at a Walmart Super Store when I take my daughter back to college since we don't have a Super Walmart near us. I feel that I get a good amount of groceries for my $100, but do believe you need to be aware of the competitor's prices too. Their sales will probably be better than Walmart's prices.

Re: Walmart Superstore?
From the extensive price comparisons I've done, Wal-mart wins 75%+ of the time. Watch for loss leaders at the chains though and produce at Wal-mart is sometimes a bit questionable, but it is my default store.

Re: Walmart Superstore?
Near us Walmart beats the grocery store prices (including store brands), except when the grocery store is having a good sale. I try to shop at both to get the overall best price. (They are within a 1 mile of each other, so no really gas cost).

From my perspective, I've found Wal-Mart SC to be the best price on just about everything excluding meat and whatever else the local grocers have on sale that week. Wal-Mart's meat and produce leave a lot to be desired when compared with a higher quality grocery store.

Re: Walmart Superstore?
My ethics don't allow me to shop at Wal-Mart. I think their prices for meat are ridiculous, and being in such a large, crowded place puts me in a bad mood. So, while I do agree that their prices for most things can be really, really low, I also try to vote with my dollars. I don't like how they treat their employees, so I don't shop there.
