I hope so - I have more than I need in my frig, and it would be nice to store some away in the freezer. Anyone know?

Re: Can soft cream cheese be frozen?
I imagine it'd be just like other cheese after it thaws...a bit crumbly. But do you have an alternative? Worst case, it either goes bad and you throw it out, or it doesn't freeze well.
Check the expiration date though. I thing cream cheese has a pretty long one.

Re: Can soft cream cheese be frozen?
High fat cream cheese (the block) can be. It should be fine, but if it's a bit crumbly when you thaw it, adding a touch of milk and low microwave and mixing it will help smooth it out. You can also blend in BUTTER, just a touch, before you freeze it, to keep it smooth. Tub cream cheese, depends upon which brand/what it's got in it.
Tofu or soy cream cheese, no. Freezing it is how you make crumbly tofu for fake ground beef.

Re: Can soft cream cheese be frozen?
I bought a smart and final tub of spreadable lowfat cream cheese. I suppose if it does turn out crumbly, I can use it in one of my vegetarian meals as a protein stand-in.Originally posted by flashHigh fat cream cheese (the block) can be.
