My MIL called me today urging me to get a flu shot for everyone in our family this year if we could. We have never gotten one before, but she said that it was a good idea living in Texas (densly populated area) and that it could help my young childrens immune systems fight against the flu and illnesses like RSV. I have never had a problem and in the past cosidered it to be a waste of money to get one because of it, but I also lived in a rural community and never had much exposure to it. I was wondering if anybody else felt this way, or if I should just schedual to get the shots.

Re: Flu Season
IMO, only those that are elderly, very young, or susceptible immune systems should get flu vaccinations. i'm sure dr. steve will be around somehwere today...
also, know that people allergic to eggs usually can't get a flu shot b/c eggs are somehow used to make it up. used to work w/ a lady who was allergic to eggs & she couldn't get a flu shot anywhere/

Re: Flu Season
Yep. My Hubby is allergic to eggs. He can eat them in products but he can't eat straight eggs. I think they incubate the virus in them or something. I may be all over the place with that one, but it has something to do with the incredible, edible egg. He can't get the flu shot either.
