3K is a fantastic goal! Just imagine yourself with the money in hand and you'll get there for sure!

            Set backs

I had a set back in my savings. Well, a set back in life too. I had to make an emergency trip home (flight $440 but I got that 1/2 price!) because my best friend went into hospice and ultimately passed

Don't get me wrong I value her WAY more than the money and I'm glad I went. BUT, I am down a total of $300 in my savings so I have a total left in there of $600. I don't think I'll be able to make it up, more goal was agressive.

Darci, I am so sorry for your loss. It's good that you had money set aside so you could make the trip home, so don't be discouraged about your savings. I'll be praying for you.

Sorry to hear about your friend. But you CAN make it up. You might have to make some compromises for the next few weeks but don't give up!

Very weird. I know I replied on Friday but I don't see the post. The posts I made to everyone else's threads are there but not my own. Odd. oh well, I'll just say it again.

Thanks everyone for the condolenses. It has been hard to deal with but I'm moving forward.

                  This week's numbers: Family Deposit~$100 PC~$14.

Steve~I suppose I could make up the money if this was truly an emergency fund type of account. Although I was thinking of adding some to it, we have our E-fund and this is our Christmas and travel fund. My husband is going threw so physical therapy and medical things so we are using "extra" money towards medical. IMHO a few less Christmas gifts aren't the end of the world or a tradegy. Medical debt needs to be the priority.

This is weird. My posts seem to be disapearing!

                      Anyway....

This week is just the personal challenge of $14. I guess I shouldn't say "just" it's someting and it's everyweek and it's a commitment. I've been noticing that since it's late spring and we are starting our home projects it's harder to hang onto the $ and not WANT things. Like a new picture for my freshly painted walls or a new plant for my planter or new towels, or kitchen gadgets or......(you get the idea). it's GOOD to pay myself first or the $ would NOT be there.

Anyway I think Dave Ramsey is onto something. Saving money IS like dieting. We have to be willing to tell ourselves NO and it's HARD.

Tell me about it.. sometimes i want to go with my wife to the city centre without my wallet. At least i could save some money But if she is happy because she bought some clothes then its fine with me.

This is so true for me, so now when I get the spending bug I treat myself to something little so that I don't wind up buying something big.

Another week has come and gone and I've added $100 to the Family acocunt and $14 to the personal goal. I've ALSO added 68.19 as the leftover of a rebate that I didn't use to pay off the account.

So, it's been a good week
