• Ten Fun & Frugal Beauty Tips

By Melissa Eaton

I'm ready to unload some the best secrets and tips that even your salon professionals use. Of course they would like for you to buy their products and will tell you they are the best in order to make the sale, but I'm pretty sure they're not being honest in telling you what products are really on the backbar in their salons.

As a frugal person myself, I've always shared my secrets with my clients. I earn my living selling my services, not products. Here a few for you to enjoy!

1. To dry nail polish in a hurry, spray nails with PAM Oil Spray.

2. Olive oil can be added to bath water for a skin softener.

3. Toner/Astringent -- Use witch hazel instead. No need to dilute -- use full strength. You can also rinse with a splash of Apple Cider Vinegar after cleansing -- it balances out the ph of your skin.

4. Cut back on the amount of shampoo you use. Do the same with toothpaste. The manufacturers want us to use more, so we buy more.

5. Keep your pantyhose in the freezer, and they will last longer.

6. For great lotion, mix one-part lotion with one-part vaseline. It works better than plain lotion, and, depending on the cost of your lotion, you can stretch its value.

7. To prevent hair pins from falling out, bend one prong in a "V" about halfway up and insert in hair. It will stay.

8. Old lipstick tubes, thoroughly cleaned, are great for purse-sized pill boxes or for pins.

9. Use hydrogen peroxide as an inexpensive nail bleach.

10. For an excellent facial, mix dry oatmeal and water into a paste and spread on face. Lie down and let it dry. Wash off with warm water.

Olive Oil and white sugar makes the best scrub, and (just enough oil to moisten)
Baby head to toe wash (J&J) is the best face wash (I use it as a body wash too)
Plain olive oil is the best moisturizer (really try it for a week)

Baby Oil Tips:

Baby oil will remove oil based paint from skin.

Blend 1 tbsp of baby oil and with 1/4 cup of milk, then add it to bath water. Makes skin feel soft and smooth.

Use baby oil as a makeup remover. Pat on leave 10 minutes, and remove with cotton balls.

Rub lashes with baby oil for added shine, and conditioning them. No need for mascara.

Add a little baby oil to wash water, to keep baby's rubber pants soft.

Rub baby oil around a bandage before removing. This makes it ouchless for little ones.

Keep your stainless steel sink bright and shiny with a dab of baby oil.

To get rid of shower door scumb and buildup, apply baby oil on a a moist cloth once a week.

I make my own lipstick. All pretty shades.

I also make lip gloss.

I even take eye shadow and use it as lipstick.

I put vaeline on my eye lashes, and eye lids.

Used to use K. Made my hair grow like wild fire. So I stopped it, along with my friends.

Got loads of tips, just won't be posting anymore until I find out what happened to my part two dog tips.

I'm been sending tips in like crazy. Have so many. But their getting lost and not posted. This is all time sonsuming for me, to just have them lost.

If I submit anymore, check all categories for them. Their all good ones. Great advice and help for all. I love to share.

Hi Princess.

Gonna answer this quick and get off. We got a terrible storm. Not good to be on a computer.

Lip Gloss:

Take 2 tablespoons of crisco lard, and mix it with 1 pkg of Kool- Aid. Use any flavor.
Then put this in a film canister or small jar, and refrigerate. Leave 30 mins or longer.
Take out an use. I even mix Kool- aids for a different effect. Make loads of these for kids.
I've put it in the freezer for a few also. They love them.

Enjoy!

Re: Ten Fun & Frugal Beauty Tips

Crisco is a lard. Sorry I don't know what your lards are. Maybe cocoa butter. Do you have this? Crisco has pretty much the same consistency as coca butter.

Honey. Just buy a small can. Then you can save it to make more later. Or use the rest to bake with.
