  • Money Saving Idea: Take A Weekly Spending Detox

Here is a money saving idea: take a fiscal fast.

Go for a week or so without spending money. This will have several benefits:

    1. You'll use up the things you have in your refrigerator and your cupboards.
    2. You'll develop new frugal skills and learn to find ways to solve your problems without spending money (For example, you'll find carpools or learn to get media at the library instead of paying Netflix)
    3. You'll also break bad spending habits and gain new insight into how you spend
    4. You'll be reminded of the many terrific things in life that don't require money

Sounds interesting. I sometimes do something similar to this.

But also be wary that if you cancel your Netflix for like a week, when you sign up again it may well be more expensive than before.

Matt - well that hasn't been my experience, in a lot of cases you can just cancel and they'll offer you a lower rate, or you can email their customer service and get a lower rate. Or you can just put the account on pause. No reason to pay full price for something you're not really using.

Why are you dredging up 3-year-old threads? Please stop.
