Amazon gives free 2 day shipping and an Amazon Prime membership to students (which is proven through using your .edu email address), so if you still have it open, it's a good idea to use it. Also, AT&T and MetroPCS give discounts based on your .edu email as well.

Of note, you can qualify for any level of education... Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate. Also, you don't even necessarily need a .edu email address... The university I'm using for my master's degree doesn't give out .edu email addresses, but I submitted an enrollment document to Amazon and they registered me for a student account as well.
Additionally, after your initial year of free Prime membership, you can continue your Prime membership for $39/year for up to 4 years (or as long as you're enrolled), vs. the standard $79/year Prime membership fee. Here's the link.
My question for the boards: Is paying for Prime membership worth it? At $39/yr, I think I can justify it (free 2-day shipping helped me to get my family's Christmas gifts delivered to them in time this year, after only starting my Christmas shopping on the 20th). But is it still worth it at $79/yr? Maybe so... if you use Amazon regularly (1-2 times per month), you end up paying only $3-$6 (average) for shipping, which is often what you'll pay for standard shipping. I dunno... just thinking out loud, but what do you all think? Is maintaining a Amazon Prime membership worth the cost? -
I got the Amazon Prime for Students, and the first year when it was free was really nice. Then I went ahead and paid the $39 to renew it. Put simply, I won't be renewing again. What I liked most about it was the free two-day shipping. Here, where I live now, there is no such thing. If I receive my orders in a weeks time, I am happily shocked. So ... there really is no advantage for me. Living somewhere else where you don't have to have everything shipped to a PO box, it may be worth it.Comment
