  • Save (loads of) money on dog toys & supplies

I searched the forums but didnt see anything about this! I have a pet gift basket business and when I started out I searched hard for good prices on quality pet items (not the cheap junk from the dollar tree). Toys in other stores (i.e. pet smart) are so outrageous Im amazed that anyone would buy them... but of course pet lovers will do anything for their pets.

I finally found this website called Pet Edge (www.petedge.com). They focus on selling to retailers and groomers, although no proof is required and there are no minimums. Their toys start at 49 cent and some of the best quality toys on there are only 1 and 2 bucks. For instance, here are the toys under 1$ (PetEdge - System Error. Shipping is pretty decent too!

These toys are high quality, beautiful bright colors, cute shapes, seasonally focused (i have some adorable christmas ones that play music when squeezed). They're not inky dinky either. My chow and black lab have a huge toy box full of them and they're the perfect size. The toys are perfect for small to medium dogs (chow, collie, lab = medium) and there are a few big dog selections available too. They have kong toys for less than 5 bucks (and if you have dogs you know how expensive they can be).

Anyway, i haven't told anyone else about this site since its where i get my business supplies but i thought i'd let you guys in on it. Im sure there are some other pet lovers out there like me.

Yes - Pet Edge's prices are great.

However, they do charge a $6.99 "small order processing fee" for orders under $60.

Coleroo - Have you discovered "Nashville Wraps" for your packaging supplies at wholesale prices? Their Paw Print and Top Dog lines are adorable.

I see loads of stuff at the dollar tree for dogs and cats, should probably check there before ordering. ive really saved loads there. collars, toys, food, leashes, shampoos, lots of stuff. same stuff as walmart, but less then half the cost, 1 dollar per item, and canned food is 2 for a dollar. ours has pedigree and alpo. Even dollar general has a good selection. type those in a search engine, pop up their sites, and it has a store locator in it. also, dg has prepaid cards, im sure you can order online with them, just like u can with walmarts too.

I have a dollar tree 1 mile from my home and am very familiar with their products and distributors. Most of the items there are cheaply made, poor quality, and non-vibrant colors. Toy variety is also almost non-existant too. My goal was to find inexpensive quality, eye-pleasing toys --- dollar tree, big lots, dollar general and the like just did not match up. The toys at Pet Edge, in my opinion, are cuter and have better quality than either of the discount stores. They're better than walmart as well (I shop at walmart almost exclusively).

A good place to get cheap bulk dollar store goods also is at Wholesale Products and Wholesale Merchandise - DollarDays. They have a pet section too, but require purchases by the case (still good deals though if you ebay or set up at flea markets).

With all of the recalls, I'm becoming a little concerned about buying items that go into the mouth. So many of them are made in China. That's why the stuff is so reasonable.

I'm starting to think that it might be a good idea to keep anything that says made in USA. It might be valualble one day. HA HA
