Question about a ???

I have a question about, ???, well I'm not sure what they are called, hence the reason for the question lol. What is it called when you have a "club," "organization," "foundation" or whatever you call it, when people pay a membership to join, events are held, money is raised, and help is given? Is that still a non-profit organization or is it called something else?

Could you mean a fraternal organization (an often antiquated sounding term, as so many fraternal organizations are open to both men and women)?
