There's a moment — boarding a flight, a new baby, a parent slowing down — when you think if something happened, would anyone even know where things are? Handoff turns that into a one-page map your family could actually use. The essentials take about 20 minutes, and it's yours to download and keep from the first day.
Not a will. Not a vault for your money. Just a clear, private map — directions, not keys — that the person you trust can follow when it matters most. You decide who can open it, and you stay in control the whole time.
You don't have to finish everything to be useful. You have to finish the one page that matters.
Seven essentials cover the first 48 hours: the will and attorney, life insurance, the bill-paying account, how to reach the password manager, medical wishes, the home, and who to call first. About 20 minutes to a map your family could actually use.
Not just where things are — what your family will actually have to do: which documents they'll need, who to call, what to ask for. Handoff points to the one key that opens the rest (your password manager's emergency access) and confirms your will exists — it never holds the secrets itself.
Choose your Approved Person and download a copy that's yours to keep — even if Handoff disappears, your family still has the map. Quick check-ins each season keep it from quietly going stale.
Handoff is designed to reduce the amount of highly sensitive credential information it needs to hold by recording where things can be found rather than the credentials themselves — no passwords, PINs, or full account numbers.
Handoff organizes and points the way. For anything binding, it sends your family to your attorney and your official documents.
Download or print your Handoff anytime — many people file it right next to the will. If you stop paying, or if Handoff shuts down entirely, your family still has the last map. You're never locked out of your own information.
The map is yours. You only ever pay to keep it alive — never to get back in.
Handoff is currently being prepared for private beta. We're testing which features matter most — and what people would consider a fair price.
The hard part with a parent isn't paying — it's getting them to sit down and type. So don't. Handoff for a loved one is built as a 30-minute conversation: you ask, they answer out loud, and Handoff writes it down. No app for them to learn, no homework left undone.
No — and we never will. Handoff stores directions: where your login is saved, which drawer the policy is in, who to call. Never the actual password, PIN, or account number. That's a deliberate design choice intended to reduce the amount of highly sensitive credential information Handoff needs to hold.
No. Handoff is a personal organizer, not a legal document. It helps your family find what you already have and points them to your attorney and official documents for anything binding. It works alongside your will, never in place of it.
Handoff is designed so that you decide who to authorize and what to share with them. Access controls are an intended part of the production product; this preview is here so we can test what matters most to you before it's built.
That's exactly what the check-ins are for. Handoff reminds you each season to confirm things are still accurate, so your map stays true to real life — which is the whole point.
You keep your map. The finished Handoff is yours — you can download or print it anytime, and a copy already sits with your Approved Person. If you lapse, you don't lose access; you lose the living parts: the seasonal check-ins, the updates, and the monitored delivery. Access is never the thing behind the paywall.
Then your family still has the map. That's a deliberate design choice: because your Handoff is always exportable and a copy is already in your Approved Person's hands, it doesn't live or die with our company. A tool meant to outlive you shouldn't depend on us outliving you — so we built it not to.
Handoff is being tested and is not yet a commercially launched product. Join the private beta to help shape what we build — and what a fair price would be.
Handoff is in private beta. Tell us where to reach you and who you're planning for, and the prototype opens right up.
