Snooki was recently paid more than a Nobel Laureate to speak at Rutgers University. At the surface this seems absurd, but as the article explains, maybe she was worth it.
Do I have to watch cable TV to know who this person is?
I've lately been hearing the Snooky name, but only in one-liner jokes.
I don't think very many Nobel winners even give talks for pay.
"There is some ontological doubt as to whether it may even be possible in principle to nail down these things in the universe we're given to study." --text msg from my kid
"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men." --Frederick Douglass
The article argued that she was worth it because of all of the publicity it brought. I don't think the saying "all publicity is good publicity" holds true for universities, but I could be wrong.
