  • Women Carry Less Credit Card Debt Than Men

    According to a recent survey conducted by Myvesta.org, women carry less credit card debt than men, but women carry more credit cards. The survey found that men have an average of $2,742 in credit card debt spread over an average of 2.5 credit cards while women have an average of $2,294 in credit card debt spread over an average of 3.3 credit cards.

    The survey also found that the average amount of credit card debt carried by individuals has risen 14.5%. The average American now has $2,627 in credit card debt, up from $2,294 in 2003. Married individuals have an average of $3,288 in credit card debt while non-married individuals have an average of $1,785 in credit card debt.

    The number of credit cards being carried is also on the rise. Americans now have an average of 2.9 credit cards in their wallets and purses, up from 2.3 in 2003.
