I am agreed that the blog you are going to post must be unique content. It should be relevant to the category for which the blog has been written. Keep in kind about the targeting audience and also the blog should be informative, so that it would be beneficial to readers.

I promote my own personal finance blog BlogStash.com offline as well. You can put a bumper sticker on your car, hand out cards, put notes on public bulletin boards etc. You got to get creative if you want your site to survive and thrive.

SEO is great, but it takes a few months to rank. PPC is good if you have some money to spend on marketing your blog.

You could also try submitting articles to digg, delicious etc. Even if articles don't make it to the front page they're indexed.

That's the thing... not everybody really knows it. SEO not only requires a tremendous amount of know now, but you also have to have the time, patience, and endurance to make it happen.

Doing any type of SEO will always give you an advantage. It just matters how aggressively you approach it.

6. Submit to live directories and blog directories
7. Comment on others' blogs
8. Network with bloggers via Twitters & other social networks
9. Participate in social media
10. Do SEO on and off page.
