I just realized that our savings and investments are actually ahead for the year so far. I updated my spreadsheet with all the first quarter figures and our balance is over 7K higher than it was on 12/31/08. We still have a lot of ground to make up from what we lost last year, but at least we're finally going in the right direction.

Yeah, the past 7 weeks has been nothing short of amazing. Back in week 5, there were debates elsewhere about whether this is a short bear market rally or if this is the beginning of a bull run. Of course, while trying to predict the future is always fun, nobody really knows right? I know I sure don't know....

But yeah, I'm not complaining though.

Dave Ramsey pointed out in his live "Town Hall for Hope" thing Friday evening that you don't hear news outlets going on and on about how the Dow is up 22% in the last 2 months . . . only doom and gloom.

Good news doesn't garner high ratings. The media thrives on fear and pessimism.

market goes down and no one wants to look (or does look) then it appears to be a good year and everyone takes a peak.

I have not looked for 2009 and will not until June
I might have been up for 2008 at this point of year last year.

I updated things a couple weeks ago and I was up. I check every quarter regardless of anything. If it's way down I make any neccesary changes and cry if needed

We just surpassed our oct 2007 high today. Only because we have been throwing crazy money at this thing called the stock market. But I do think we will go back down again and at least retest the lows though. The market never just goes straight up.
