I paid over 67k in "taxes" last year (state,fed,fica,medicare) - my #1 expense year after year. Don't believe the crap about high earners not paying their fair share of taxes. Even after all the tax breaks, interest deductions, health care savings, retirement etc. I still have to pay out my **S in taxes every year.

2.) Retirement Funding (across DH pension, my 401k, and our Roths)
3.) Mortgage
4.) Pocket Money
5.) Taxes (real estate)

Taxes is a good point. I guess I didn't think about it because I only work with what my what my paycheck says. After double checking my paycheck stub, it would appear that taxes is my highest expense as well.

My land payment is my next biggest expense, but only because I am paying an extra one thousand on it each month!

We pay way to much for a house...not more than it is worth, just poor folk like us don't belong here.

The most amounts of money I spend on my rent. I believe it is the same with all renters.

The second is my tuition, which increases by 12% every year.

School tax last Oct 15 was $3660.00; this year who knows. County tax last Feb 15 was $2,900.00. We switched from an ARM mtge last year to a fixed one and that was a smart move so taxes would be the real headache here.

What I seem to spend most money on is food and clothing. That's the day to day expenses. Overall, we have really socked a lot of money into home improvements, but we aren't doing anything we don't have the cash for...no loans!
