  • S&P 500’s real dividend yield has plunged to -7.2%

All - I follow Schwab.com's chief analyst, Liz Ann Sonders, on Twitter. She puts out an excellent fact based series of updates on her take on the economy.

She got one out this morning that I thought was interesting for investors. Basically, factoring in inflation the actual dividend yield on the S&P 500 had fallen by 7.2%. Now granted dividends are only one component of stock yields, but its a nice reminder that inflation isn't just something that consumers have to deal with - it impacts the entire economy. This is something that some media outlets don't seem to want to recognize.

The bottom line is inflation is bad for investor as well as consumers.
