For prostate cancer, I've heard reports that "routine activities" reduces your risk, but more so if it is a "multiperson activity", and less so if it is a "solo activity".
In both the case of Alzheimer's and prostate cancer, I suspect #1 is genetics, #2 is environment/diet, #3 is dumb luck.
