Did you ultimately get your refund? I know when the pandemic first started, the airlines were only giving credits but then the government ruled that they had to give refunds.

I was wondering the same thing as DisneySteve. I had a lot of trouble with United, too. (They cancelled my flights to/from Europe) I went through all the steps including filing a complaint with DOT. They kept telling me I was due a refund every step of the way, but never actually giving me a refund. I finally did a charge back through my CC to get my refund. One mitigating factor is if United cancelled your flight or did you just elect not to go? I think I read the deadline for charge backs for travel is I believe 6 months(?). But, even if that timeline has expired, it might still be worth pursuing.

Hopefully in 2021 covid will be less of an issue.

I hope so too. Just yesterday, I got the first notice of an event cancellation for 2021. A Disney fan group I belong to announced that they are postponing the event they were planning to coincide with Disney World's 50th anniversary in October. We were hoping to attend that while we were there. They just feel, rightfully so, that things are way too uncertain to do all of the work needed to put that event together not knowing if it will be feasible to actually hold it. There is far too much to plan and many hours of time on their part that they don't want to waste only to have to cancel it when the date gets closer.

As I said, I'm very uncertain about the March 2021 event. A big part of me is hoping that they cancel it when it becomes clear that conditions simply won't be safe by then.

Right now just hoping to get a trip to the coast (most likely a day trip) worked in this year before the weather turns too cold.

I haven't made any plans yet. I guess I could go anywhere, but there might not be much to do when I get there. I'm just waiting and watching before I make solid plans

I did not. I even appealed it and they denied my request. Should I try again or what would next steps be?

I had booked out on american and back on united. My american flight cancelled so getting a refund from them was easy. I had to cancel the united piece... but the flight was booked in February and the trip was to San Francisco the second week of April... no one was traveling in april - the hotel I was supposed to stay at closed and everything. I'll use the credit so its not a loss but I do think it was poor judgement on their part

It is stupid expensive ($700/night) but I wanted to be able to walk to MK and not have to deal with any transportation that day.
I went ahead and booked my DVC for the anniversary dates ... I got my annual pass all sorted out, so I was finally able to make a reservation for 1Oct! We’ll see how it works out. (Fingers crossed on the vaccine)

I feel like international travel is out for me in 2021, if they require a covid vaccine in order to fly/enter European countries (no, I'm not an anti-vaxxer). So that most likely entails more domestic travel of exploring other states.

I was thinking of doing a bunch of road trips in this mid Dec after finals, while working remotely. But that's off the table with the case spikes and various shutdowns of various states.
"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

That would be cool! I am hopeful that the vaccine distribution/availability is widespread by Oct of next year because I know I won’t be going without it. Also, I am hopeful all of you folks on the frontline can get the vaccine starting this Dec. (I hope they were not being overly optimistic on the timetable).

We likely would have vacationed in the Caribbean in Feb 2021, as we have the past two years, but with the pandemic that's no longer the plan. We also rent, with friends, a large beach house in VA in July. That's still in the plans for 2021 with the deposit paid on the house - though we did pay for trip insurance (the first vacation we've ever taken out trip insurance).
