Macy's will be dropped from the S&P 500 tomorrow and be replaced by Carrier Global.
This is probably the first of many changes that will happen to the major indices partly as a result of the COVID 19 effect as many companies will see their market capitalization plummet. Formerly large caps will become mid caps or small caps and no longer qualify for the index they are currently a part of.
I hadn't thought about that. Many of us are index investors. Those indexes are likely to look quite different 6 months from now.
