How fast is your internet and what does it cost?

Mine is <1 mbps and I hate it. I'll be upgrading soon but don't know what's... acceptable. I got to use someone else's internet the other day. I tested it at 76mbps. THAT was awesome.

About $60/month for 100mbps.

We ditched cable a while back and stream a lot of TV and videos, so wanted faster internet. Plus my spouse uploads videos for his work. Multiple reasons to want faster internet. We've had 18mbps for a while but just got bumped to 100mbps for the same price. (I presume either 18 or 100 is beyond most people's needs).

We have 20 mbps with Time Warner for either $45 or $49. We have their basic tv service as well so our bill is about $70. We just moved from an area where we had 55mbps and paid $70(with taxes) just for that. It was fiber optic and we never had any problems streaming multiple devices.

Just last night three of us were streaming stuff on the 20 mbps service and had no issues. It seems we may have had more than we needed before!

I'd start with the lowest you can and move up if needed.

25 Mbps in theory, although in reality we're often slower than that. I don't notice it being a problem unless it drops below 7 or so.

We pay $70 but that includes phone land-line. The internet portion is about $45.

1.5 Mbps DSL. We're 5 miles from the CO and it's the fastest/only service we can get. $19.99/month for all the slow-ass downloads you can tolerate.

Centurylink is the service provider and they can barely keep service running at 1.5M. The lines are aerial, and are in horrible shape. There are no plans to bring in fiber. The cable company won't bring cable out this far. Satellite - good luck, with all the trees, and besides that, I need a connection that will support VPN.

Now that ISP's are regulated utilities, we can finally file with the UTC for the poor quality of service. That, and they are not legally allowed to call 1.5M service as "high speed internet" anymore.

mine is part of a Time Warner bundle so I'm not sure. Netflix streams fine to all the TVs through tivo and even on the computer. But takes forever to download web pages and we've all experienced that. They came out, talked my dad into turbo internet. There was zero improvement. I don't understand this, they replaced with router, the house is new construction and supposedly wired for whatever they need. I need to call again and get another house call.

I would like to leave Time Warner but I don't know where to go. The satellite cables don't use the tivos we have, and I have one brand new, I don't want to give those up.

$30/month for 20Mb DSL. Have to call Century Link every 6 months to a year to move us back onto a promotional plan though, otherwise we would get bumped to an insane $65/month regular price.

20Mb is more than enough to stream multiple HD programs at a time via Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, etc...

21 bucks a month for 5Mb which is fine for streaming Netflix and surfing at the same time for the two of us. If they had faster I would probably get it but apparently this is as fast as it gets. My coworkers in a newer part of town have 120mb.

I too have to call every year to get a promo rate so it doesn't go up to 50/mo.

15 mbps for $79/month. But I live in a blackhole apparently. Every where around me can get cheaper Internet but for some reason my home's location can't get the same. I live Montana though and I'm right next to the Bridger Mts so that's probably why.

I don't even know, it's fast enough for me and my wife to simultaneously stream HD movies from it, which is all I care about.

I have a standalone plan from Cincinnati Bell: $40 for 30Mb. When I had a home phone with them, it was only $30 for 30 Mb plus $40 / month for the home phone. I cancelled my home phone with them and they raised the internet only price to $60 for 30 Mb. I whined a lot and threatened to leave and they dropped it to what I have now $40 for 30 Mb. I always want more speed (don't need more speed), but this is the best $ / Mb package I can get without bundling a bunch of stuff I don't need.

$50/month for 100 mb. We have only cable. No choice only comcast and even then we had to fight and have them install it. Where we live is weird. Our neighbors all had internet but not this house so they came out and installed the wiring. The last people were using sattelite. Crazy.

I think we have 50mbps speeds, I know I upgraded hoping to get faster and it is sometimes faster.

Internet is around $68 with tax and TV is an additional $35 plus tax. I think our bill is just over $100 for internet and cable TV.

We have Tivos so we don't pay for their DVR service. The nice thing about the Tivo we have is that it can work with over the air broadcasting as well, so if we ever want to go back to no cable TV, we can.
