as long as you are fairly certain that you will not change your usage or find a new app or something that will use all your given data, saving 5/month is worth it. personally, i am an android user and finally am getting google voice setup so that i can eliminate my text plan and do that for free....been putting it off for too long

    good luck
You are absolutely right. The more I thought about this, the more I realized it might not be worth switching. As more and more apps come along and I do more and more with the phone, I might find that the limit becomes an issue. The same day the new data plans went into effect, Netflix announced that they were introducing an app to stream movies to the iPhone/iPad. Folks with the unlimited data plan will have a ball with that. Folks with the new limited plans not so much.

Nope. I just got my iPhone a few months ago so I'm not eligible for an upgrade until early 2012. My wife will be getting an iPhone this month but she won't get the 4 either. She'll get the $99 3GS.

I was some what sad when AT$T plans on ending the unlimited data plan. In all actuality most people don't use more than 2GB in month anyway, will i dont personally. But I see where the company is coming from, they are a business and the unlimited plan could be costing them a pretty penny in the long run.

to be honest, i think this is a good "choice," even if don't really have a choice in the matter. while i feel the iPhone 4 looks like an amazing piece of technology, i am not so sure it warrants all the hype. of course, being an apple product, living up to that hype is probably an impossible task.

to be certain, there are some nice upgrades and features that have been added; but, i think someone as yourself will be the lucky one as the next model will only be better (even if only slightly) and will probably have 4g service as well. at&t will not have their 4g service (LTE, same tech as verizon) out in force for at least a year by all estimates. that is also where keeping that legacy plan may pay off for you, that is, if at&t does not change the rules by then.

based on several reports from the journal, verizon may finally be getting the iPhone. of course reports have said that in the past; however, the non-exclusive deal for the Ipad and the "too good to be true" deal at&t is giving many people to upgrade early are also signs. the specualtion is that at&t is trying to get as many people tied to at&t before they lose the exclusive deal. other rumors are they are just trying to get as many people away from android as fast they can. take that for what you will. ANYWAY, if i can get to a point, having the iPhone on more than one provider can only be good for all.

sorry for the book......time for bed i am rambling.

I can see myself easily eliminate a laptop if I ever get an iPhone on top of my current iPad. I barely use the laptop now since iPad does just about everything for entertainment and I don't have to worry about virus, malware, spyware, uware, etc. I just turn it on and play. If things get bad, I just restore to the original setting since important stuffs, apps purchased, are stored on iCloud. So a good setup would be a desktop for some expandability and the ability to have large screen or even TV connectivity, an iPhone, and an iPad will be enough for all entertainment and some work.

However, the thought of limited data plan pretty much prevent me from going ahead with an iPhone. I stream movies from Youtube and Netflix exclusively since I don't purchase movies anymore. I may occasionally use Redbox for new release but if it is that good I would probably go see it in theater.

Currently, I am looking for a Wifi service that will let me use my iPad outside the house. It only has Wifi instead of 4G so no data plan possibility. However, Boingo is advertised at the local mall next to my house and there are plenty of free Wifi-enabled restaurants. I would prefer a city wide service but that probably would cost me roughly 100 dollars a month in taxation since many people will not have to pay for it but still eligible to use it, just like public school, library, parks, etc.
