Anyone else feeling the pain of changes to their employer provided health care plan for 2010? In 2009 the premiums went up but our salaries were frozen. I'm not sure yet whether we'll have a pay increase in 2010 but the premiums will be going up for the PPO plan.
Two plans are available - a PPO or a high deductible plan with an HSA. Nothing changes on the high deductible plan for 2010. The premiums will remain the same and the deductible and max out of pocket will remain the same. For the PPO, the individual deductible is going up from $500 to $1000. After the deductible, 20% coinsurance kicks in and the max out of pocket is increasing from $2000 to $2500 for individuals. These increases are really going to push people into the high deductible plans. I need to investigate further to see if it is time for me to switch over from PPO to high deductible.
I'm not thrilled with the changes but I know a lot of companies offer far inferior benefits (or none at all) at higher prices. I am still getting a paycheck so I know I can't complain in this economy.
Any other reports of changes for this open enrollment period?
