Just a word of warning for those in the UK thinking of taking out a mortgage with these sub-prime lenders.
The Money Group has changed its name from the Mortgage Group, who had a BBC panorama special called "The Borrowers" where it exposed how they train telesales staff to target those with bad credit and court injunctions. A transcript of the programme is here
Tony Murtagh, the boss of The Money Group aka The Mortgage Group aka Capital Credit was in trouble in 2004 from british law courts for lending £5000 to some people which with interest later meant they owed £350,000. The Times article is here
HE later liquidated a company in our hometown after mismanaging it so much; as found in the local rag here
So word of warning if you ever get a call from these guys - They are also known under Fresh Start Home Loans. I wonder why they change their name so often....
