  • I got 8 jars of Gerber baby food for only 4 cents!

With 2 little girls, I got a part time job at babies'r'us to get the employee discount plus some extra cash. The 10% discount really adds up when you're buying car seats, toys, a stroller, etc.

Also had a $3 store coupon my sister received for completing a survey.

So for two 4-packs of baby vegetables:

    regular price $4.38
    less $1, on sale $3.38
    less 10% discount $3.04
    less $3 coupon $0.04

This example is really the extreme of how to work the system and combine coupons and sales, but it's nice to get something for (almost) free.

Good job, wouldn't it be nice if you could do that all the time!

I guess I am not good at couponing, cause I never get anything for free or almost free.

I usually combine my coupons with sales too. Because if I use coupon for the item that is not on sale , it's still too expensive. You are doing a good job.

Thank you for the post. Good for you.
I am one of the biggest fans of such calculations: I bought 3 lbs od perdue chicken boneless skin-less chicken breasts for $1.58

            Sale $4.58 for 3lbs package.
            coupon $2.00
            coupon doubled: $3.00
            Final price: $1.58

To save even more money.why not make your own baby food? I never gave my kids jarred foods..they ate what we ate at every meal..I just used a blender to mash it all up and as they got older, they had foods like scrambled eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese etc..it was cheaper and they learned to distinguish betweens diff textures and flavours
