Okay, since we have talked about the heating, what about the air. For myself, I don't care a lot for air conditioning. If I have my way I keep it around 76 in the summer. I hate to freeze. My other half though he likes it cold. so it is a battle all summer. However, at night I will put the temp on about 72 or 70. I cannot sleep if I am hot. I have found ceiling fans do help with keeping the air down.

we live in Oregon and we do not get too much really hot weather we have no airconditioning so in the summer I just have a light bill of about 28 bucks and a natural gas bill of 20 bucks
It feels like we are bill free all summer I love it

We compromised at 78F the last couple of years, but only because I have become cold-natured. Just a few years ago, I would have preferred it much cooler. Husband still prefers much cooler, so we aim a fan at him selectively."There is some ontological doubt as to whether it may even be possible in principle to nail down these things in the universe we're given to study." --text msg from my kid

78. I actually prefer it 80. We do not come from A/C country I think is why - 80 feels extraordinarily comfortable to me. But since our summers are 100+ yeah we need A/C here. BAck home we didn't have it so I still don't like how every place I go feels like 60 degrees in the middle of summer (stores and other people's houses. & work - ugh!).
It can get pretty hot during the day but we have cool nights so it's not an issue at night. We don't even need to open a window usually. BUT yeah, if it were hot at night I would have to go with 78 at night. I can't sleep in the heat - blech.

No A/C in our new house, no inclination to install it even though I have put very powerful ceiling fans in each of the main rooms. We can get pretty hot here in the summer but we survived in our first rental home without A/C so we know we can do it in this house as well. When I had A/C in our last apartment, we had it set at 80-82 because I don't tolerate moist cold air very well.

I keep mine at 80-82 in the daytime and 78-79 at night after 9m when the rates are cheaper. I'd love to keep it at 75, but I'm sure that would bump my 380.00 July and August bill someplace up to the 500.00 mark.
We have high R factor and shade screens on all the windows but it's also 115 degrees here in the summer. Not much else you can do.
