  • Re: Most outlandish frugal thing you did

I served snacks to my bridge group on monday. I covered them with glad wrap until I served them. Then I saved the glad wrap pieces and reused them again today. The glad wrap never touched the food, just the top of the glass bowls.

    • When valpak get mailed to my house and has a really good coupon in them I stop by the local post office on my way home from work and go through the trash can they set out for po box holders to throw away unwanted mail. Since there isn't any food/garbage just paper I don't mind. I could print the coupons out but I don't have a printer.

I don't think it's gross at all, that's what the pigs are there for. Just check for bones in the food scraps so that no animals choke.

        • Used to use Scotch Tape to temporarily mend my kids ripped and torn rubber pants, and when the elastic waistband failed and wore out and would no longer keep the pants up and on, I'd fasten the pants like a diaper using a diaper pin!

Frugal or just plain old cheap, I'll let you decide. LOL!

SeeAPenny, mentioned packing a diaper pail when they'd go camping or on car trips, and I did the same! I loathe disposable diapers to this day.

Here is a picture of the little harvest-gold diaper pail (left) I used to tote along with us! Two kids in the backseat of the car, stripped-down to their diapers, legs poking out through elastic leg holes of rubber pants!
