Hillary Clinton blasted Donald Trump for aligning with the "alt-right." But what exactly is the movement?

I was listening to NPR today and they did an interview with a youtube alt right supporter..and pretty much he said everything expressed in this article.
Did you click and read any of the links I have posted?

If you had, perhaps you would respect the fact that there are people out there that voted based on what issues are important to them. Their votes had absolutely nothing to do with race, or wanting to rid the United States of non-whites.

I did not say all Trump voters are from the alt right. Not even sure if majority of them are but based on the demographics of who voted for Trump, I'm sure the majority of his voters are NOT alt right. But there is a strong small percentage who is, and a few more percentage who doesn't denounce them(including Trump).

If Trump or our commander in chief is not going to shut this down, then yes we will see more race wars and hate..not unity.

Singuy, I am glad you are logged on because I just happened to be reading something on this topic. I am including the link at the bottom of the post, but will be tossing in some of the quotes.

"The wealthy businessman, who won his White House bid with strong support from white voters, has made calls for unity since the election. Hooper said the president-elect's supporters appeared to be getting a different message."

"Police in Louisiana said a woman made up a story about being assaulted near the University of Louisiana Lafayette campus and having her hijab removed by two men, including one who was wearing a Trump hat."

So just how many of Trump's supporters are not getting the message vs. people using any means necessary to push their agenda?

Also, where are the stories about the Clinton supporters not getting her message? She called for unity as well yet there are protests going on and planned across the United States.

            This.

My daughter said this when we were chatting last night. She sai that she doesn't think the election made anyone a racist but it's given some people the encouragement to act out on their views.

The news today has been filled with reports of racist incidents occuring all around the country including several in this area. What's interesting and alarming is that some occurred among people not even of voting age. A local high school had several incidents occur - racist graffiti, harassment of minorities, etc. There have been several issues on college campuses, including at my daughter's school, a campus that has been quite calm and peaceful for the 2-1/2 years she has been there - until yesterday.

I can certainly understand why my daughter is upset and afraid of what is happening around here. The same goes for many of my friends and family, especially those who are minorities, LGBT, female, etc. The mood in the country right now is downright ugly. I'm hoping that it settles down quickly and that Trump speaks out loud and clear condemning it.
            Steve

            * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
            * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
            * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

I don't disagree with anything you wrote, but I believe you misinterpreted my post.

I was referring to people fabricating incidents to push their agenda.

Not that I don't believe that racist incidents are indeed occurring, but I am skeptical as to whether all of what is being reported is actually true. I posted a quote stating that at least one of the stories was reportedly fabricated.

And false stories regarding racism have been going on for many years, long before this election.

I honestly wish the DNC had supported a better ticket, like Sanders/Warren. I know quite a few people, even some republicans, who held their noses and voted for Hillary, simply because she was not Trump.

I don't think people have too much to be afraid of. My opinion is that the ACA will be (initially) changed in ways to moderate the premium hikes, immigration will become more stringent, we'll probably see some sort of illegal immigrant amnesty plan, more infrastructure spending, a more generous GI bill. I'd really like to see pharma reform and have the ability to shop medical insurance across state lines.

No mass deportations, no reversals on Roe vs Wade or rights currently afforded to LBGT or same sex marriage.

Keep in mind Trump's ego. I'm sure he wants to be a 2 term president.

For the record, I thought it would be over Tuesday around 7pm EST with Hillary having enough votes to clinch. I went to bed around 11:30 pretty confident I'd wake up to a woman president-elect. I was in awe when my wife told me the outcome.

                  I agree completely.

I'm sure that some reports are fabricated and there's no defense of that. It draws attention away from real problems.

The reports I've seen, at least, are clearly documented - graffiti, photographic documentation. Now they don't know who did it. Was it just a bad prank by teens who thought they were being funny or was it truly racism? I'm not sure it really matters as the effect is the same, but the stuff has actually happened.

It is certainly possible to limit abortion rights without overturning Roe v. Wade.
It is certainly possible to impact LGBT rights without changing current laws. For example, the court declining to hear a case could indirectly affect things.

Certainly, I don't think anyone will be surprised when the balance of the Supreme Court shifts to a conservative majority. That's pretty much guaranteed. There's no way that can't have an effect over the next 4 years and beyond.

                    • I saw on the news people were protesting by vandalizing a police suv. Also setting fires in the streets. Those idiots couldnt care less who won the election. It was simply a green light for them to destroy things and get a pass...all in the name of protesting.

Or the "victim" did the graffiti to get attention. It happens.

Whether real or fabricated, I do hope the nonsense comes to an end real soon.

I think what Trump voters don't understand why there's such a backlash from us HC supporters is we absolutely don't care about the issues if we see bigotry on the table. This trumps all issues. You think I care about the TPP, the tax break, stabilizing the middle east, climate change, energy independence immigration reform, money in politics, or corrupt politicians when we know that if bigotry wins..there's a high probability of me going to work and my city is filled with rioters and protesters? People fighting each other, at each other's throats and burning cars? Or minorities being scared to death every day due to constant harassment from idiots? Look..if the nominee doesn't denounce bigotry LOUD AND CLEAR, then that means it's supported. This is why you see past republican nominees having ZERO tolerance for bigotry. You start with that..then we can talk about the issues.

I posted before the election night stating that at the end of the day, I could care less who wins..but the last thing I want is civil unrest. You know how much I cared if Romey or McCain won? We wouldn't even have a conversation right now.

                          • Singuy, you appear determined to stay on a dialogue that I believe is highly exaggerated. You conveniently passed over my post regarding what my daughter and her soccer team experienced this past week.

I keep typing more then just deleting it because it truly seems pointless.

                            • Trump's latest tweet shows that he is not going to work toward any sort of unity.

"Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!"

Wildly inappropriate statement (which is nothing new with him, right?). Who gave him his twitter password back?

Either my English is terrible or you are just not understanding it.

Civil unrest is NOT one sided! It takes TWO to Tango. You'll have an increase of BOTH sides going at each other. You think I enjoy watching some white guy getting his ass kicked by a bunch of African American assholes? You think I want to see the left burning trash, the American flag or Trump's head? You think I want to see a bunch of idiots chanting crackers? You think I want to see vandals spray painting people's cars with words like "N- get the F out" or TRUMP 2016? Doesn't it break your heart to see middle school children chanting "build the wall" in the lunch room? I don't care how much you try to downplay the occurrences by giving examples of certain individuals are faking it. For every one fake case, there are ten real ones. Pictures and videos are posted all over news websites. It's not all a matter of he said she said.
