With the Delta variant increasing should a fully vax person get different brand vax?

For example I am fully vaccinated with 2 shots of the Pfizer vax, should I go and get 1 shot of J & J as an insurance against the Delta variant? Especially, since the anti-vaxxers don't want it (I'll take it).

I haven't seen anything to suggest additional vaccination is beneficial or indicated.

I think the main thing everyone should be doing is continuing to wear masks indoors and in crowds. I know it sucks but it's really the single best thing to do to prevent the spread of the virus (other than getting vaccinated).

I just read a report today out of the Netherlands. Over 900 people who attended an outdoor music festival that required either vaccination, proof of immunity, or a negative test, all came up positive for COVID after the festival.

I saw that. I’m sure it won’t be the first. But short of mandates, just WEAR A MASK!

Holy Corona! I felt a glimmer of hope a couple of months ago, but I am not surprised. DH and I were at Disney World a couple of weeks ago. There were signs that if you were un-vaccinated that you still had to wear a mask, but no one paid any mind to it. The adults could have been vaccinated, but unless the children under 12 had participated in a trial, there is no vaccine approved for that age group. And, no one of any age was wearing a mask. Or social distancing. Or covering their cough. The one place I saw they were enforcing the masks was on the monorail. But, the elevators must have magical properties because no one was wearing masks as they crammed into the elevator.

We didn't have park reservations, so we didn't go into the parks. We were just at one of the resorts--we watched the fireworks out in the parking lot. We took the stairs. Up 9 flights. And, did the best we could to stay away from others.

I am still holding out hope for California as you all seem to have a higher vaccination rate than other places.. We shall see, but I fear my dreams of visiting Disneyland this fall might be dashed.

I'm tuning in on the booster. Seems like pharma is ready to push one but public health is saying not just yet, or maybe it's not needed. I thought the consensus was that existing vaccines were looking to be pretty effective against Delta? Maybe I'm behind.

I'm seeing more places stick to requiring masks inside. I keep my mask at the ready...have been doing KN95 since early in the pandemic. I'm vaccinated, but my thought is, if they are masked (store employees, majority of patrons) then I am too! No big deal.

I think the jury is out on whether or not a 3rd shot is effective or necessary.
If it is determined that it is, then I can hopefully get it when I go get my flu shot in the fall

More fear porn. Keep the public on their toes. Hook, line and sinker.

Please, live your life. Turn off the news. The mental strain on people is at tipping point. I know a lot of people who had covid who are better off than those who havent had it yet. The mental aspect of all of this is lasting, and its scary. We havent watched the news in 3+ months. Im telling you, you will feel better. If you like seeing all the negativity, a lot of it manufactured, keep doing what you're doing.

No one is better off having this infection that not- this I can promise you.
I do agree about the constant media stream completely wearing people out, and in my professional opinion, the degree of panic of the delta variant is unfounded. If you are vaccinated, particularly with the Moderna or Pfizer varieties, I really wouldn't worry for now, maybe not for years. You have very high antibodies to the entire spike protein on the virus, and it can't infect cells without using spike, and if it mutates away from that method of cell entry it will basically be a different virus ( = not going to happen, much less than 1% chance I would say).

As far as if/when a vaccine booster is needed, that's still not entirely clear but we will know once significant numbers of fully vaccinated people start having symptomatic infections and transmitting to others. These "breakthrough" infections are often likely not true productive infections at all, just people would are routinely tested and were exposed to the virus (so its in their nose) and maybe had some low-level, local replication before the antibodies induced by their vaccine clear it away.

I should clarify. I didnt mean its better to get the virus. What im saying is, people that I know who have had it and recovered from it, whether it was a week or a couple months, are better off than those who minds have been warped by the constant fear mongering. Depression and anxiety have lasting effects that can ruin peoples lives for years. Ill take getting covid and feeling terrible for 3 months vs being depressed for years. And yes, I know people have died from this. Where's the beating a dead horse emoji? I thought that used to be an option under the smiley faces.

So you think all of the people coming in sick and testing positive don't actually have COVID? If your theory is right, how do we prove it, and what do we do about it? Do you think we should just stop testing people who have been vaccinated regardless of their symptoms? That doesn't seem right. We know no vaccine is 100% effective. And vaccinated people can still infect others so it's important to know that they have it.

For the record, I don't agree with your theory anyway. There have been too many examples already where an unvaccinated family member got COVID and then the other vaccinated members in the household got sick a few days later and tested positive. That can't be a coincidence.
