Alright, so I am going to doing this but running six 52 week challenges at the same time.

I am going to be saving the .01, .05, .10, .25, .50 and the 1.00 where I save all these in coins NOT paper. I am thinking six glass jars where I will put the required coinage in week after week. The first jar will have all cents, the second jar all nickles, the third jar all dimes, the forth jar all quarters, the fifth jar all half dollars and the sixth jar all dollar coins.

The end result will be $2,631.98 after the 52 weeks. I'm not concerned about the coins because I usually save them up, roll them and turn them in once a year.

I want to find six glass containers that can hold the coin weight, and a location to put them so they are not knocked over (By my cats) and not seen by anyone that might want to help themselves to some spare change.

I'm going to start a thread as requested and further elaborate on my plan.

I love this idea of saving money. Instead of keeping my money in a jar in the house i have mine going into my Smartypig account gaining 1% interest. I know its not alot but anything helps.

Hi! I just joined your forum because I want to participate in the 52 week challenge. I hope to start at the first of the year. Your forum looks like it will give support and ideas to be successful. I plan on making numerous changes with our finances and I can't wait to see how this goes for me. I will start my own thread Jan 1. Is their anything else I need to know?
Thanks,
Riverbendgirl

This'll be a major challenge, but if I get even more than halfway to $1378 maintaining what I did last year, that'd be a success. Mostly looking forward to learning and sharing new ideas. Does reduction of interest paid on debt count as savings?

Anything counts as long as you take that savings and place it into a savings account. If you actually place it into your challenge account, it counts. If you don't, it doesn't.

Nothing additional that you need to know if you understand the concept. This area will be a good resource if you have any questions along the way. I will also be doing this challenge on the main blog this year mainly to give ideas on ways that you can save that you might not have thought about. Good luck with the challenge!

I hope it will be a good way for everyone doing the challenge to share their successes and help each other stay motivated throughout the year.

Sounds like a great goal. Are you going to be doing it together as a team or is each of you going to try it separately like a competition?

A Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Just transferred $1.00 from checking to savings.... for both my husband and myself. It will be double savings, and we will compete (should say hold accountable) each other. To me, I feel transferring from Checking to Savings is the good idea, but we shall see....

I started this last week on first Saturday of 2014.. Started off at $52

what will be challenging for me is I already put a certain % of my weekly paychecks away already so this will leave me even less money for all my daily expenses..

ill admit it I spend most of my money on is food . That is what I need to cut back on is eating out too much. I try to eat close to 4k calories a day (getting in shape for military and personal wants) but I need to make more food at home

Added another $3 each, totaling $6, so it's doubled!!!

It's growing, little but surely....

I started my 52 weeks savings challenge beginning of Jan. Not the reverse way though. I am doing it slowly… $1, $2, $3, $4… up till this week is $6. I am also using my calendar to keep track so I won't forget to save. Another thing I am doing is to save $1 a day too. Hope it adds up significantly.
