How to Get Free Shipping Year-Round
Free Shipping Day isn’t the only day you can get free shipping throughout the year. Many retailers offer free shipping on certain orders, certain days or even orders over a certain amount (usually $50).
For example, if you have an Amazon Prime account you can get free same-day shipping throughout the year. Of course, Prime costs $9.95 per month so if you aren’t using the other Prime services and aren’t buying enough to save $10+ per month on shipping, it probably isn’t worth your time.
Another retailer that often offers free shipping on certain items throughout the year is eBay. Usually, it is up to the seller’s discretion whether they will charge shipping or not but for sales over $50, sellers tend to ship for free. Additionally, if you buy manufacturer-refurbished items on eBay shipping is also usually free.
Larger retailers like Walmart, Target, Costco and big-name stores oftentimes offer free shipping on orders of $50 or more. If you’re already planning on spending $50+ then you’ll be able to take advantage of the free shipping. If you enjoy waiting until Free Shipping Day each year, however, there are a few things you can do to prepare.
How to Prepare for Free Shipping Day
There are a few things you can do to prepare for Free Shipping Day to get the most out of the day.
Before Free Shipping Day on December 15, you’ll want to make a list of people you still have to shop for. Once you’ve got your list put together and the items you plan to get each person you’ll want to scout out the best deal for that item. For example, if Walmart has the PlayStation 4 Pro cheaper than Target you’ll want to shop there instead.
After you’ve scouted all the best deals, make sure those retailers are participating in Free Shipping Day (most are). If the retailer is not participating in the event see whether saving on shipping will be worth switching to a more expensive retailer for your item.
Additionally, be prepared for retailer websites to be a little bit slower on Friday due to the Free Shipping Day event. The event lasts for a full 24 hours though, with some retailers offering free shipping through the end of the holiday season. Happy Shopping!
