Is Walmart Open on New Years?
New Year’s Day is the end of the holiday season and the first federal holiday of 2019. Banks and post offices will be closed in observance of New Year’s Day, but many retailers follow a different schedule, and only close on a few federal holidays.
Walmart will be open on New Year’s Day. Christmas Day is the only federal holiday that Walmart closes all stores. Walmart SuperCenters will be open 24-hours the entire week (even New Year’s Eve) and other Walmart stores will be open their regular hours on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Are other services available?
Most Walmart stores have a bank, hair salon, nail salon, an optician and income tax preparation service inside the store. Those service providers are independent of Walmart and do not follow the same operating hours as Walmart stores. Check with your local store to see if those service providers will be closing early on New Year’s Eve and if they will be open on New Year’s Day.
Walmart Store Hours
Check with your local store, but most Walmart stores will be operating on their normal schedule the entire week of New Year’s Day. They will be open the following hours:
- Thursday, December 27, 2018: Regular hours
- Friday, December 28, 2018: Regular hours
- Saturday, December 29, 2018: Regular hours
- Sunday, December 30, 2018: Regular hours
- Monday, December 31, 2018: Regular hours
- Tuesday, January 1, 2019: Regular hours
- Wednesday, January 2, 2019: Regular hours
Is Walmart Having New Year’s Day Sale?
Walmart does have a sale on most federal holidays, but not on New Year’s Day. Although there is no specific sale on January 1, 2019, you’ll still find a ton of great deals. Typically, the after-Christmas clearance continues through New Year’s Day. Check the weekly flyer for your local Walmart store for the deals available the week of New Year’s Day.
Is In-Store Pickup Available for Walmart.com?
Walmart.com offers free in-store pick service to shoppers. Shoppers can select the merchandise they want and pay online. They receive an email or text message to let them know when the item is available for pick-up at their local Walmart store. Some items can be picked up the same day.
Not all stores have same day in-store pickup. You will be able to see when your item is available for in-store pickup when placing online orders. If your local store has same day in-store pick, items purchased at walmart.com will be available for in-store pick up on New Year’s Day. You can pick up any items that are ready on January 1, 2019, during the regular in-store pickup hours.
