Wine
Many people don’t realize that wine goes on sale around Labor Day to make room for the new harvest. Amazon is offering 20 percent off select wines, plus one-cent shipping when you buy three bottles. WineLibrary is offering a Labor Day wine blow out with up to 60 percent off and free shipping. You should also check local wineries for their sales along with your favorite local liquor store.
Casual and Warm Weather Clothing
Of course, with cooler weather on the way, stores are looking to clear shelves to make room for fall jackets, long sleeve shirts and other fall clothing. You’ll find discounts starting around 25 percent off, but we suggest not buying anything for more than 50 percent off. The discounts will only grow in the coming weeks, even after Labor Day.
Back-to-School and Office supplies
The back-to-school sales on Labor Day could be better. Honestly, you’ll save more waiting for clearance, but then you won’t have as good of a selection. Staples is offering some decent deals on school supplies with a good selection. Wal-Mart may still have the better price, but the selection may not be as good.
Mattresses
Mattresses go on sale every major holiday. On Labor Day, you can save up to 60 percent. If you’ve been yearning for a Sleep Number bed, now is the time to buy their Labor Day Limited Edition Bed for 50 percent off. If Tempurpedic is your thing, you’ll save as much as $500 on select mattresses and bases, plus they’re giving away $300 worth of accessories. Sleepy’s is also offering steep discounts this year with 50 percent off all mattresses.
Outdoor Living
All things summer are now on sale. You’ll find some good deals at The Home Depot and Target, but the biggest advertised savings is at Lowe’s where you’ll get up to 75 percent off clearance patio furniture. The Home Depot is offering 15 percent off select grills, while Lowe’s will give you 10 percent off Char-Broil. But if you can wait until November, you may see even greater savings.
Paint
This is a big time of year for paint sales too, with the cooler autumn air being perfect for outdoor paint jobs. While The Home Depot and Lowe’s are offering $10 off a gallon and $40 off a five-gallon bucket, Ace has them both beat with Buy Two Get One Free on gallons of select paint brands.
Major Appliances
The best stops for discounts on major appliances will be The Home Depot, Lowe’s and Best Buy. The Home Depot is offering up to 25 percent off special buys with free delivery. Lowe’s will give you up to 30 percent off major appliances, but only those priced $396 or more. The sale includes free delivery and take away of your old appliance. Best Buy will also give you 30 percent off select brands and free delivery and pickup of the old appliance when you purchase items priced $399 or more. The discount on major appliance by GE, Bosch, Whirlpool, KitchenAid and Amana will be just five percent.
So get out there and snatch up these Labor Day deals while you can. Most of these retailers are offering these discounts for just four days, September 4 – 7.
