Thanksgiving dinner is expected to cost 14% more this year than last year due to high inflation. But luckily lots of retailers are offering deals and freebies for Thanksgiving that can help you save money. Here are the best discounts we were able to find on food, decorations, cookware, and more.
Deals and Freebies for Thanksgiving
Ibotta is running a promotion that will give you a complimentary Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings. You’ll get a total of $26.99 worth of merchandise for free. The meal includes frozen green beans, a Jiffy corn muffin mix, instant mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, soda, gravy, and a turkey.
However, you can only get this deal while supplies last. If you’re already an Ibotta user, you may also need to refer a friend in order to get a free turkey, so keep that in mind. If you aren’t able to snag the free meal before supplies run out, Ibotta still has lots of other great Thanksgiving rebates that can save you money on groceries.
BJ’s is giving away a free Butterball turkey and a $10 gift card to customers who spend $100 or more in one shopping trip. The promotion is available to customers who shop online or in-store. BJ’s is only offering this deal through November 24th, so make sure you take advantage of it soon!
HEB is running lots of buy one get one free promotions to help you save on your Thanksgiving groceries. When you buy an HEB spiral sliced ham, you’ll get a free twelve pound RiverSide frozen turkey. If you buy a pack of sweet potatoes, you’ll also get a bag of marshmallows for free. You can even score free gravy when you purchase a family-sized bag of instant mashed potatoes.

Kroger is offering customers who purchase four boxes of cereal or granola bars a free gallon of milk (or one half gallon of organic milk) through November 25th. Kroger brand 14-16 lb frozen turkeys are also on sale for nearly 70% off, which is great if you need to feed a crowd this Thanksgiving. Shrimp platters are buy one get one free, and Swanson broth, Campbell’s soup, and Pillsbury crescent rolls are on sale as well.
So if you want to score big savings on your Thanksgiving groceries this year, head to Kroger.
If you’re a member of the BIG Rewards program, you can get a free string of mini lights when you shop at Big Lots on Thanksgiving.
If you need some Thanksgiving decorations to spruce up your home before the holiday, head to Target. Lots of their fall decor is on clearance, including adorable turkey plushies, ceramic pumpkins, and pilgrim figurines.
Macy’s is also having a big sale on Thanksgiving decorations and cookware so you have everything you need to host dinner this year. Spode’s Woodland Turkey dishware collection is on sale for 50% off. You can also get a 16″ nonstick roasting pan for $23.99 and an Instant Pot Duo Crisp Air Fryer Combo for $119.95.
