The store hours for Target for Christmas
If you are one of the many who are a last-minute Christmas gift shopper, retail stores are extending their holiday hours with you in mind. While most stores will be closed on Christmas Day, many are significantly extending their holiday shopping hours in the days leading up to Christmas. For those who procrastinate, or for those who realize they forgot to buy a gift for someone at the last minute, the extended holiday hours will make getting that last-minute gift a lot easier, and possibly save the day.

Target Christmas Store Hours

Target is one of the retail stores which will be extending their opening hours the days before Christmas. The store will open the following hours leading up to Christmas:

  • Sunday, December 18: Target will be open from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
  • Monday, December 19: Target will be open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM.
  • Tuesday, December 20: Target will be open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM.
  • Wednesday, December 21: Target will be open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM.
  • Thursday, December 22: Target will be open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM.
  • Friday, December 23: Target will be open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM.
  • Christmas Eve: Saturday, December 24: Target will be open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
  • Christmas Day: Sunday, December 25: Target will be closed.
  • Monday, December 26: Target will be open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM.

Saving Money at Christmas Time

While it’s nice to have extended hours for last-minute shopping, it’s important to remember last-minute shopping isn’t conducive to staying within a Christmas budget. Buying gifts at the last possible minute usually means purchasing whatever is available, and that often means paying more than you had planned for the gift. If you do find yourself having to purchase a gift in the last days leading up to Christmas, it’s far better to already have something in mind than going to the store without any idea of what you might purchase. It also makes sense to keep in mind some additional ways you can save money at Target when shopping there.

For anyone who you’re having an extremely difficult time finding a gift for, don’t forget the gift card option. A gift card to the recipient’s favorite store, for a relaxing day at a spa or for anything else you know they would enjoy will be much more appreciated than a last-minute gift that has no appeal to them other than it’s a gift. Target has a wide range of gift cards which can be purchased, and the right one is sometimes the best option when making a last-minute gift purchase.

I’m glad I finished my Christmas shopping at the beginning of December. I hate Christmas crowds and I find I always spend more just to get out of the malls if I do have to shop at the last minute.

  • George says:

I’m not a big gift card fan, but I do agree it’s a better choice than getting something just because you need to get a gift. At least a generic gift card lets the person choose what they want, although I think it should be the gift of last resort.

  • Jennifer says:

I’m not sure I like the trend of stores opening longer hours around Christmas. it seems convenient for those shopping last minute, but where does it stop? I think we’ll see stores like target open on Dec. 25 in the not too distant future.

    • Sandy says:

I really appreciate Target taking the time to provide advice for last minute shoppers. I have never seen a department store do this before and I found the information practical and sensible. Whether othes did or not this tells me that Target really cares about their customers and I don’t feel that it was a push to sell gift cards, just good advice that I find to be true.

Store hours on Christmas Eve for TARGET is incorrect on this site. TARGET will be open until 11pm. Corporate greed at its finest. My nephew celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve but will miss everything due to having to working until 11 pm.
