Crazy Ways to Save Money
Saving money can be difficult and boring, however, there are plenty of ways you can make the dull task of saving more fun (or at least a bit more interesting). You don’t have to really change your lifestyle or make huge cuts in your budget to save money either, especially if you are using any of these slightly quirky ways to save.

  1. Flush Less: You’ve probably heard the saying, “If it’s yellow, let it mellow. It’s it’s brown..” You know the rest. Well, practicing what is being said in this saying can actually help you save a bit of money and water. You may notice a change in your water bill if you don’t flush every time you go to the bathroom.
  2. Sand Bottle in the Toilet: Put a water bottle filled with sand in the back of your toilet (with the cap on). This helps to displace the water and can save up to 10 gallons of water a day. Practicing number one and this one together can save you a bit of money.
  3. Displace Water: You can reuse the water in your bath. You can also shower/bathe with another person to save water. Both of these things can help save money tremendously.
  4. Thrifting: Become friends with people who like to be thrifty. If you are friends with them and you all go out to go shopping, you will likely save a ton of money on the items you set out to buy that day by buying them secondhand.
  5. Time Limits: Set a time limit in the store. There are many times people say, “I need just a few things” and they leave the store with a bunch of stuff they didn’t need. Go to the store right before an appointment so that you won’t spend any extra time (and money) there.
  6. Raw Foods: Eating raw foods can save you money in a few ways. One, you won’t have to turn your stove on to cook. This save electricity (or gas). Second, buying things raw and fresh saves a bit of money as well.
  7. Reusing: You can reuse disposable items. Even though they save they are disposable, you can reuse a few times them and save some money.
  8. Go To Bed: Going to bed earlier can save you money as well. You won’t be up watching television (which saves electricity) and you won’t be out spending money because you’ll be in bed.
  9. Don’t Wash Your Hair: Okay, well, wash your hair, but not as often. Washing your hair everyday can damage your hair and can waste a lot of money. Your hair doesn’t need washed everyday.
  10. Compete: Set up a competition among friends and family to see who can save the most money within a specific amount of time. This can motivate you to save more money.
  11. Unsubscribe to Junk Mail: Get rid of and unsubscribe to junk mail. By not having it around, you’ll be less inclined to look at it and spend money.
  12. Cash Only: Don’t use credit cards for all of your purchases. Instead, use cash or a debit card. By doing this, you’ll be aware of all of your spending habits and quickly aware of your needs and your wants.

These are just a few of many ways to save money without changing your lifestyle. They are also all a little odd, so you’ll never be bored saving.
