Shopping Walmart on Labor Day
Walmart isn’t offering big sales this Monday. They haven’t made a big deal out of major appliances or patio furniture, for instance. But back-to-school deals are alive and well, along with savings on off-to-college gear. Oddly, the retailer has chosen this holiday to put shaving products on sale as well. You’ll also see big savings on baby products.
Labor Day is a busy shopping holiday, so if you’re going to face the crowd at Walmart, make sure it will be worth the trip. If you’re interested in the sale categories above, it’s worthwhile, especially for college gear. Walmart prices are already very low. Add a sale and you have serious savings. And, for last-minute cookout supplies, few places will offer a better deal. But if you’re looking for major appliances, yard tools or patio furniture, you’re better off headed to a store with a stronger focus on hardware or technology.
The same is obviously true for wine sales at stores that don’t carry it. Whether you can expect deals on wine will depend on area blue laws and the specific Walmart you shop. Give them a call before you shop to find out if they’re offering a sale on wine.
What Is Walmart’s Holiday Schedule?
The truth is that Walmart stays open every day of the year except Christmas Day. You’ll see limited hours on Thanksgiving Day and extended hours on Black Friday and for some stores, throughout the holiday shopping season. Of course, it’s smart to call ahead and check on the hours before you shop, and to check the sales to be sure you want to fight the Walmart crowds on the biggest shopping holidays.
