Many people assume that most stores are open on Labor Day due to the huge amount of Labor Day sales advertising. While it is true that the majority of retail stores remain open, there are some that do not. Below is a list of major retail stores that will be open or closed to observe Labor Day on September 1, 2015.
With all of the sales that are sure to take place, there will definitely be opportunities to save money. The key point to remember is you are only getting real savings if you were already planning to purchase what is on sale. No matter how much of a discount you may get, if you buy something simply because it is on sale, then you didn’t really save any money.
Costco Warehouse
Costco is closed Labor Day. Costco is only closed for 6 days out of the year, and Labor Day is one of these holidays. This puts them in the minority of retail outlets who close to observe this holiday. Be sure to remember to stock up on any food, drinks or other supplies you may need to celebrate before Monday.

Thank you for the list and the links to the sales pages.
I would like to commend Costco for closing on this day. Labor day is a day for all laborers, and this includes retail laborers. All stores should close and give the people a well disserved day off instead of trying to turn it into a shopping holiday. The shame.
I agree with this. Costco is one of the few companies that really does treat its employees well. More companies should.
Nurses, fire fighters, and police work on Labor Day, along with other public service people I forgot to mention. Labor Day is for us, too. We work it and then spend time with our family and friends, just like retail workers can do.
Glad to find out Home Depot is open! Plumbing to get done that day!!
‘Best Buy. . . on electronic and gadgets which lasts for four days.’
Hmmmm, I’d like my electronics and gadgets to last longer than four days! 😉
I really do think it should be up to the employees to choose to get paid more work or to take the day off. As long as everyone working is happy, I dont mind having another day shopping with stores open.
I am SO glad that Target is open on Labor day. Yes I agree that some stores should be closed on Labor Day, but there is always a need for milk, cheese, or bread, or that “O MAN I forgot” item. THANK YOU TARGET!!! Yall rock!!
