The last two times I have went I have saved about 50% of the bill. I don't always do that well, but I do try hard to be creative in looking for coupons. and it is a good idea to have a large variety cuz if you have a really good one on something you don't normally buy due either to cost of you just haven't tried it, then a really good value coupon can let you try something new. Example: I rarely buy nesquick chocolate mix cuz it is expensive and not a good for you product, so it is a treat in this house. But recently they came out with a $2 off in the paper and so I got it for free and the kids love chocolate milk. so they are happy too! coupons can allow you to buy things you can't normally afford, or to try something new that you wouldn't do without some kind of incentive. I LOVE COUPONS. anyone knows any good sites please pm me!

I don't feel good unless I save at least %50 that includes store sales too. Gotta tell you what I got this weekend. I got 5 tombstone pizzas, gallon of milk, 3 boxes of corn bread, 3 bags of shredded cheese and two cans of pillsberry cinnamin rolls for $5.05 That was exciting

Very good job! I focus on what I can save on and then I can afford what does not have coupons.

I do pretty good with internet coupons all the time. Especially those 10%off target and walmart coupons.

Sometimes when I have been in the self-check out line I have found dollars off for a certain amount spent. Some people just look at them and lay them on top of the shelf beside the machine that spits them out. Sometimes the people don't take the coupons the machine has spit out so when you get there - they're yours. A little over a week ago, I stopped into my grocery store for one or two items on my way home. There was a coupon there for $10 off when you spend $50. Well, that can be easy when you buy one get one free and buy a lot of your groceries. I used the coupon and instantly received 20% off ($10. of $50) just by using that coupon plus the coupons I was using for the products and free items. I think that I ended up paying $33 and change. Of course, I deducted the 10. and the coupon money and put in to the side to add to my challenge money.

I know this is an old thread but I was hoping to revive it.

I love using coupons, it allows me to buy better product I may not have if I did not have a coupon.

I am becoming more coupon compulsive. For years I've been trying to save with coupons but with less than admirable results ($4 here, $5 there off). Then I realized I had been shopping at the wrong store. We have 3 grocery stores where I live and only one out of the three has double coupons. So depsite the fact that this particular grocery store is more expensive I actually save more there due to the double coupons and weekly buy 1 get 1 free and the 10 for $10 deals (but you don't have to buy 10 LOL).
Okay enough blabbing on. Yesterday I did my weekly shopping and saved $25 off my bill in coupons alone. Total I saved over $50 with coupons and sales. I was pretty pleased. But I'd still like to get to the point where when I leave the store my subtotal will be like $120 but I only pay like $14 but I don't know if that is a realistic goal or not. Until then I'm happy I saved so much on this shopping trip.

My friend and I exchange our sunday coupons. We clip out the ones we want out of our own coupons then trade the inserts and clip from each others left overs. This works well because we normally don't purchase the same kind of food items.

wow - i don't think i have ever saved that much but we don't have double coupons here. i guess if i took the 1/2 off price the store gives you maye i have but it seems like our sunday paper has horrible coupons and only 1 of the 3 grocery stores in town will take internet printed coupons.

I'm so tickled! My goal this year is to save at least 40% on my grocery bill. We have one store that doubles coupons (Krogers) and since it's Super Bowl weekend, they had their 'party' stuff on sale!

Beginning total = $76.33
Paid = $40.08 & saved 47%

I purchased all the following with coupons:
Velveeta 2# @ $2.99, Kraft shredded cheese 12 oz. @$1.50, Kraft block cheese 8 oz. @$1, Ritz Crackers (4 sleeve pkg.) $1.50, Post Cereals 14.5 oz @$1.17, and Angel Soft 12pk Big rolls for $5.50
Best thing ---> $6 off total bill when purchase 9 Kraft products! Oh yeah!

This has put me in such a good mood! Kinda like my 'old days' when it was a game to beat the grocery store!

I'm doing the 'Pantry Principle' as explained in the 'Tightwad Gazette' and just trying to mainly purchase the 'loss leaders'. So far so good!

Last Sunday, January 27th, I beat last week and saved close to $30 in coupons. Yippee!!

This week I'm not so sure if I'll do that well though. So far, after reading the flyer and comparing my coupons I only came up with $11 in coupons so far. But I guess no matter what we save in coupons it's still a victory.

Congrats, Thkgranny. That's awesome to save that much. I like the 40% goal. Hope I can do that too this year.

I went shopping last week and saved $29 that was with four free coupons.

I had a coupon for a free Dishwasher Rinseaid.

I had three coupons for buy a Kandoo Wipe product get a tub free, the tubs are 2.83 each, well I found a refill on clearance over in the health and beauty section for $1.50 so I bought that and got the 50 ct tub for free, I also found another coupon that someone left behind in the childrens section (by the tubs) because the store only had the big refill packs over there. I bought all the tubs they had so I will have to go back once they restock the tubs because there are still like ten $1.50 refill packs hidden in the Health and Beauty section, and I am going to be getting a few more of those coupons in the mail for my fellow coupon train members.

Using the coupon I get a better product (sensitive skin), and saved 25 cents per product than buying the generic I normally buy.

I also got a can of organic FIRE Roasted tomatoes for 29 cents after coupon-They are so yummy. Everything I bought had a coupon which brought the cost of the item I would regularly buy to below generic price.

On a different trip I found Cascade 2in1 pods on sale at target I had one $1 coupon and three 75 cent coupons, they were on sale at the price of the generic, so I save $1 and $75(on 3) more than normal!!

Update on my goal:
Total $642
Spent $367
Saved $275 = almost 43%
Our Krogers' doubles coupons to 50 cents and their store savings card realy helps!
One of my DIL's has been bitten by the 'coupon bug' and we're starting a coupon swap meet every week with a couple of other friends.
I also was able to donate to our local Humane Society 4 bags of cat food and 3 pkgs. of cat treats that I got with free coupons.

That is great thkgranny!!! Congrats.

I went to a different grocery store yesterday that doesn't double coupons and their sales (if they have any) are only cents off items. But they say they have low prices that stay low. Anyway, I have always found that their meats and produce are much better quality than the other store I usually go to with the buy one get one free and double coupons under 99 cents. So I only saved about 15 % yesterday saving $10 in coupons. It's a challenge because the first store has better quality but I save more money at the other store.

I have the same problem. I love "doing" coupons, but our stores don't double at all, so my savings are usually less than 10 dollars for just the coupons.

I know what you mean about it being tough. I love the quality of the one store but I like the prices and coupon policies at the other. I suppose I could go to both but then I'd spend more money on gas. I guess the best way to look at it is any coupon savings is a victory.
