I make mine homemade but I'm sick with a migraine and don't want to mess up what I tell you, so I'll get back to you tomorrow.

I make homemade pizza. We use the bread machine for the dough (cup of water heated in the microwave for 1 min, tsp of salt, 2 TBSP of oil, 3 cups flour-any type, 1 1/2 tsp yeast-2 tsp if using only whole wheat flour, put in bread machine in that order and then put it on the dough setting, bake at 400 degrees faranheit for 5-6 minutes). When the dough is ready, oil a pan (don't forget the sides) and your hands and dump the dough out onto the pan. I press it out into the pan. If you want thick crust, make the dough and let it sit for a while (several hours) to rise again.

We use canned/jarred spaghetti sauce (lately Hunt's Cheese and Garlic). We then put on pepperoni, onions (sauteed first), and black olives or whatever we have around the house. You can also use up bits of leftover stuff (chicken, taco meat, crumbled meatloaf). We try to make sure that all the toppings are pre-cooked.

We put the cheese on top of the stuff because it uses less cheese. Some people put the cheese down first, put the toppings on, and then sprinkle a little more cheese over the top.

We then throw it back in the oven for another 5-6 min basically to warm it up and melt the cheese.

We often make homemade pizza. I usually double the crust recipe and the kids put the toppings on and then we eat one for dinner and I slice, wrap, and freeze the second one for school lunches...the kids like it cold.
They love to decide what toppings are going on. We use spaghetti sauce, and whatever leftovers we have in the fridge and sprinkle mozzarella, cheddar or a combination of the two on top.

My kids make it with rolled out bisquits for the crust, then about 2 or 3 tablespoons of speg sauce, some meat or no meat, then topped with cheese. They are great for lunches, as they fit in the sandwhich containers perfectly. My sister n law does the same thing, but with bagels. This is a great way for little kids to cook pizza.
When I make it for adults, I use the jiffy mixes. I can get them at aldis for 19 cents a box and I can not make the dough any cheaper than that. Then I just top with what ever I have on hand.

We have a bread machine and it came with a recipie for pizza dough. It makes the BEST pizza I've ever had.

I would highly recommend making your pizza dough with a bread machine. I bought the machine onsale for $40 bucks and can make a fresh loaf of bread or pizza crust for 15-20 cents.

Another not too bad option that's quick is using English muffins as bread, topping with sauce, beans, mushrooms, pepper mix, bake for 10 mins at 350. Then add cheese, bake another 5 minutes. Not too frugal, but does make plenty of leftovers, usually runs me about 3.00 for 4-5 meals, bake all in one batch, makes it easy.

English muffin pizzas are great and fast. If anyone is on weight watchers you can also make a 1 point pizza by using a high fiber english muffin with fat free cheese, zero point sause and a couple of pepperoni slices. This is a very inexpensive WW meal.

English muffin pizzas are a favorite of mine since I am a little kid. You can be extremely creative with the toppings!

If I don't have time to make pizza dough from scratch, I use frozen dough balls from the grocery store. I forget the brand, but they're used for making dinner rolls, (not frozen dinner rolls). You just spread them out in a pan, put them in a warm oven with a bowl of water, and the rising time is the same as if the dough were not frozen. It makes enough for 2 medium pizzas.

For sauce, I mix a 4oz. can of tomato paste with a small jar of pasta sauce. This makes enough for several pizzas, and I freeze what I don't use.

I make pizza every weekend and save quite a bit. Bread machines are best to use but by hand is fine too. Save money by buying yeast in bulk (1 lb. for $1.59 at Sam's club). Take care of your yeast since it is a living organism. According to Red Star, the yeast will live 6 days at room temp, 6 weeks in the refrigerator, or 6 months in the freezer (once opened). Thus, I put my yeast in a zip-lock and keep them in the freezer. Write the date on the bag. Remember too that you should activate your yeast with 110-115* liquid. If using a bread machine do NOT add warm water. Refer back to the machines instructions. Most call for the water to be around 70* and the machine warms it to raise the temp. If you start with 115* liquid the temp will get too hot and kill the yeast resulting in a low rise.

The pizza setting on a bread machine only takes about 50 min.

Various recipes can be found at my favorite recipe website

www.allrecipes.com Have fund on this site.

My son worked at a Italian resturant and he makes a white pizza. Great stuff. Instead of putting red sauce on, put a layer of olive oil on the dough, sprinkle garlic powder and italian seasonings. Add some veggies like thinly sliced/chopped green peppers, tomatoes, onions, or what ever you want. Top with Mozzarella. Great stuff.

If you use additional cheeses like romano, parmesian it adds flavor.
Also, if you use bread flour instead of all purpose flour it will have a better rise and taste much better. Bread flour sometimes goes on sale around the holidays for the same price as all purpose.

I have a great recipe for pizza dough (uses yeast, but takes 15 minutes) and topping if you still need it.

I have been cooking home made pizza for years by now. I do not like using any kind of machines for dough. I believe the dough it is much more tastier from one's hands. All the ingredients I use are fresh and I try to stay away form the canned stuff except the tomato paste which is a base for the sauce I prepare myself.

A tip for making your dough perfect, as I really believe that the secret of a fantastic pizza is in the dough, when I mixed it, using my own hands, I beat it, yeah you read correctly I try to bump it as hard as posssible few times, it goes very omogen and tasty.

Then let it 2 hours at the kitchen temperature covered with a clean kitchen towel. Then put it in the freeze for couple of hours. It becomes amazingly tasty.
I know it takes so much time but that is a real pizza!

If you decide to cook pizza try to make the dough a day before the rest will be easy. Fresh mushrooms, fresh bacon, yelllow and white cheese, tomatoes and green pepper. I use lots of yellow cheese on top and also let's not forget the olives.

It tastes great, at least my friends say so :P

I worked at a small pizza shop and we used pre-made pizza dough, let it thaw out and then spread it out to about a 1/8 inch thickness and rose it to about 1/2 inch thick. Spread on a thin layer of pizza sauce (non-chunky) and sprinkled it with italian seasoning. Take grated Mozerella and sprinkle over the top so that you can just see a little sauce behind it. Add whatever toppings you want and cook 12-13 mins at 350 degrees (for large pizzas).

Second best pizza I ever had. Best I ever had is made by Round table pizza which is a chain in N. (like 250 mi North of SF northern)California where I lived 14 years ago... I dunno if they expanded past that area.

When making your dough, try putting Italian seasonings right into the dough. You can add basil, garlic powder and a little oregano.

We have a place here in town that sells all you can eat pizza and salad bar for $3.99. They even have dessert pizza. I don't see how you can make it much cheaper than that! ( I am not a pizza lover at all)

This thread made me hungry while grocery shopping this week... I bought a loaf of wheat french bread (1.59), a can of kidney beans (.60), a green pepper(.50), and an onion(.60). Used a can of pizza sauce from the pantry(.50), a mix of cheddar and italian cheese(2.00), toasted them for 15 minutes and BAM!! PIZZA!!

Plus it'll work for about 3-4 meals....altogether $2.88 a meal. Plus healthier as I made it myself and know the ingredients!

As a result of this thread, a couple nights ago I fired up the broiler, slabbed some spaghetti sauce on 4 pcs of potato bread, sprinkled them with cheddar and topped them with a chopped up Hebrew National Hot dog. :
